General Jimmy was a senior pitbull who, in a few words, stole our hearts...
Jimmy was found stray, emaciated and barely able to stand. Though we were able to stabilize him quickly, we found out just days later that he had cancer that had already spread throughout his lungs. Life had not been kind to him, but you would never know it from that happy tail. He relished every ear rub, every treat, every breath of morning air, and every chance to soak up the warm sunshine. He never met a stranger - furry or not. He was eager to meet every new friend and experience every new adventure with us.
Though our time with Jimmy was short, he helped us realize just how important that time was... we are forever grateful for the chance to get to know him and to show him that his life mattered. That he was loved.
In honor of Jimmy's beautiful spirit, we are launching General Jimmy's Senior Friends Fund, to enable us to give more seniors the comfortable, love-filled time they deserve. Unfortunately quality care for senior furfriends can be expensive... but they are worth it. They count. Every dog counts.
